The Gravity Discovery Centre and Observatory along with the Gingin Shire present the Inaugural Gingin Dark Sky Star Party.
Presented as an annual event, the Gingin Dark Sky Star Party seeks to attract local amateur astronomers and the general public from across Western Australia to come and experience the dark skies of the Gingin Dark Sky Reserve. This event will be held over the weekend of Friday 27th and Saturday 28th May 2022. This will attract visitors to the region and encourage them to stay a while and enjoy the day and night experiences that the Shire of Gingin has to offer.
The weekend will include amateur and public stargazing and amateur astrophotography at the Neergabby grounds on Friday and Saturday night. There will also be a series of public talks, tours of the scientific Zadko telescope, solar viewing and eco bush walks at the Gravity Discovery Centre during the day on Saturday. The weekend will both showcase the Dark Sky Reserve and highlight the connection between Western Science and Aboriginal Cultural Heritage.
The Neergabby grounds activities including camping on the grounds are free, the Gravity Discovery Centre activities will be a paid experience.
